  • If your IRA funds have already transferred to us, you can log in to the MTC Investment Platform to access your account.
  • If your account has not funded yet or you are new to the platform, you can set up your user profile by logging in and selecting “New User” to familiarize yourself with the MTC Investment Platform.

Once your funds arrive, you will be able to view your balance and initiate an investment or transfer your money through the MTC Investment Platform.

Why is my account being transferred to Millennium Trust?

Capital One Financial is resigning as custodian of your individual retirement account and has made arrangements for Millennium Trust to serve as the successor custodian of your account as of the date provided in the resignation letter you received from Capital One Financial.

How will my account balance be invested?

Upon transfer of your IRA to Millennium Trust, the funds in your IRA will initially be invested in one or more FDIC-insured, interest-bearing, demand accounts at banks not affiliated with Millennium, which we refer to as the Cash Sweep Program. For more information on the Cash Sweep Program, review the article titled “Cash Sweep Program, Uninvested Funds, Compensation” in the custodial agreement.

What do I need to do if I want to have my account transfer to Millennium Trust?

If you wish to have your IRA transferred to Millennium Trust, you do not need to take any further action. If you would like to transfer your Capital One IRA to another financial institution or take a full distribution of your IRA, you must contact Capital One and provide complete written instructions for a transfer/distribution before the deadline provided to you in the Capital One resignation letter.

Will it show a balance if I log in to my Millennium Trust account before the transition is complete?

When you Log In to the MTC Investment Platform as a “new user” you will see a $0 balance until your account funds are transferred to Millennium Trust on the date stated in the resignation letter you received from Capital One. In order to ensure a smooth transition, it may take approximately 3-5 business days after the transition date before the full amount of your funds are shown as being in your account and it is possible that your account will temporarily reflect an incorrect balance. During this time, you will still be able to log in to your account, but you will not be able to execute transactions, including distributions or trades.

Will I need to sign up as a new user if I currently have a Millennium Trust account or had one in the past?

If you are an existing or former client with credentials on the MTC Investment Platform, your transition will be simple. If you choose to keep your Capital One IRA with us, you won’t need to pre-register on our platform. You can simply use your existing credentials, and your Capital One IRA will appear when you log in. If, however, you are an existing or former client on our old platform—or not on any platform—you will need to get set up and log in as a “New User.” When the account is funded, you can continue to explore investment options by using customizable watch lists, market data from Morningstar and manage statements, tax forms, transactions and holding reports.

Will my recurring contributions/distributions continue?

Any recurring transactions that you have set up with Capital One will not transfer over to Millennium Trust.

To continue recurring distributions you are receiving from your IRA, including those set up with respect to Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), please download and submit the IRA Distribution Request to Millennium Trust. Be sure to select “Systematic Payments” in section C and complete Section D in its entirety to set up the recurring distribution payments.

To continue recurring contributions to your IRA, please download and submit the ACH Election for Monthly Contributions to Millennium Trust.

Will my beneficiaries transfer over?

Any beneficiaries you have designated on your account with Capital One will not transfer over to Millennium Trust.

You can designate your beneficiaries online in the MTC Investment Platform. Once you have logged in, go to the upper right menu called “Profile”, select “Beneficiaries” then click “Next” to begin.

I was invested in a CD (Certificate of Deposit) at Capital One. What are your current CD rates as I am not interested in any other investment?

Will I receive a final statement from Capital One?

Yes, you will receive a final account statement from Capital One reflecting activity in your IRA for the portion of 2022 that your IRA was held there.

Please download and carefully review a copy of the custodial agreement and important disclosures applicable to your account type that will take effect when your account transfers to Millennium Trust. We encourage you to either save an electronic copy or print them out for your records. You can obtain a free paper copy of the custodial agreement and related disclosures by contacting us if needed.
