Will 2019 Be the Year?

Midterm elections reconfigured the power structure in Washington. There’s no doubt that the divided Congress may have difficulty passing partisan legislation - but maybe not when it comes to retirement.

Retirement plan legislation is one of the areas that is a priority for both parties, and proposed legislation from the last Congress could spark some potential progress for the new Congress.

Previous retirement proposals have focused on three areas: expanding access to workplace retirement savings plans, requiring universal retirement plan access in the private sector, and encouraging lifetime income options for participants in private sector plans.
